A few notes:
- First few minutes of the second - Nilsson - two really bad passes in the offensive zone turned the puck over both times.
- As noted on TSN, Cole totally stepped out of position on the second Ducks goal, leaving Neidermayer alone in the low slot.
- I'm really high on Brodziak. I don't see why he's playing with Pouliot and MacIntyre on the 4th line. Throw Moreau on that line, move Brodziak onto the 3rd, and give the kid a chance. *late in the 2nd period, after a Souray pinch, Brodziak was on the backcheck, and didn't do a terrible job, but didn't do too great. I'd like to see him work on that, so he's moving his feet a bit more.
- That cross crease/low slot pass from Hemsky to Horcoff for the one-timer seems to be a staple of the powerplay - much like the backdoor pass the Sedin's use.
- Strudwick had two really solid pinches this game, with the one in the third oh so close to being a goal.
- Wow, Horcoff looked awesome in front of the net on the third goal. We haven't seen that in front of the net since Smyth was here. Nice work for Lubo to get his first as an Oiler. Congrats to him, and to Cole for his first point - although I didn't really see what he did on the play to get the assist.
- Is it just me, or does Cole get his elbows up awfully high when he throws a hit?
- Nilsson - another bad attempted pass in the third. Led to a turnover and a rush by the Ducks.
- Pouliot had a heckuva third period. Lots of hustle, and a number of chances.
- What a stick check by Penner in the final minute of play holding onto the lead.
